Next year’s Jason Reitman-directed sequel to the original Ghostbusters is officially titled Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and we’ve learned today that the trailer arrives Monday, December 9.
In the meantime, Vanity Fair shares a gallery of first-look images today!
In the film, written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan:
When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
Reitman explained to Vanity Fair, “Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.”
It would seem, based on the info and images, that the characters at the center of the film are the family of Egon Spengler, played in the original classics by the late Harold Ramis.
We’ll know much more on Monday. For now, check out the images below!
The film’s confirmed cast includes returning stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts, along with Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Oliver Cooper, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim.
Ghostbusters will return to theaters on July 10, 2020.
